Big 10 Dinner, Wednesday, September 19, 2007The university of Michigan Club of Rockford will host this year's Big Ten Kickoff event. The accompanying attachment provides details regarding the dinner. Bob Madden (815-399-8048) is the contact person for the UW Alumni Club. Please contact him if you are a UW alumni who is interested in attending. Checks should be made payable to "The University of Michigan Club of Rockford," and mailed to Bob Madden at 1288 Anee Drive, Rockford, IL 61108. The deadline for reservations is Friday, September 14. Cash bar available.Guest Speaker: Todd Martens Currently a Principal for the South Beloit School District, Todd Martens has had many experiences few ever realize in a lifetime, whether it’s battling the Bearing Sea in Alaska or being recruited by several hundred schools to play Division-1 Football.Todd Martens graduated from Belvidere High School in 1989, being recognized as athlete of the year earning 11 Varsity letters in Football, Wrestling, and Track. Other highlights include being named by Street and Smith’s as a top-50 prospect in the country as well as most likely to succeed by Rockford Magazine. By choosing Michigan, Todd Martens had the unique opportunity to work under the legendary leadership of Bo Schembechler. Todd Martens lives in Rockford, Illinois and is married to his wife Heidi and has four children Alex, Abby, Grace and Bear.Title of speech “Unanswered Prayers”
News Archive: Big 10 Dinner, September 14, 2006All the Big Ten Alumni clubs in the area will come together again for the annual Big Ten Dinner. The local Iowa Club is hosting the dinner this year. Event location will once again be Forest Hills Country Club, and the guest speaker will be Jane C. Meyer, Senior Associate Director of Athletics for the University of Iowa since 2001. Dinner choices will include prime rib, chicken or salmon, plus various salads and sides. Dress is casual, and we recommend Badger colors.J The guest speaker, Jane C. Meyer, is Senior Associate Director of Athletics for the University of Iowa. Ms. Meyer has served as Senior Associate Director of Athletics since 2001, and played a pivotal role in overseeing the recent Kinnick Stadium renovation project. Prior to her work at Iowa, Ms. Meyer served as Director of Education Outreach with the NCAA, and was involved in numerous NCAA programs including drug testing and Title IX education.

The Rockford area Big Ten Alumni clubs come together on September 29, 2005 for the annual Big Ten Dinner. It was the UW Alumni club's turn to host the dinner. The even was held at Forest Hills Country Club, and the guest speaker was Trent Jackson, a former UW basketball star who is now a director of Development at the UW Foundation. In his role with the UW Foundation, Trent works to secure funding for athletic scholarship endowments and for new athletic facilities at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. One of the recently completed athletic projects that Trent worked on was the new Crew Facility at Madison. 70 people attended the event 26 from the UW Club 25 from the Illinois Club 10 from the Northwestern Club 5 from the Indiana Club 4 from the the Michigan Club
